This is what my van looked like the day I brought it home.
Tear in original canvas screen on pop-up tent
Missing bumper trim and stock rectangular headlights
Rust in many areas though this is the worst of it.
Some rust in the seams and a hole
The original propane tank with a good deal of rust
More unsightly seam rust.
Gauges were all broke.
This is a running documentation of my restoration efforts to a 1986 VW Vanagon GL, Westfalia Campmobile - 2WD, manual transmission, digifant. It is mostly meant to fill in some of the gaps informationally and photographically from other online help blogs and not meant to be a comprehensive repair manual.
My background in fixing and restoring classic Volkswagens began in 1982 with a 1970 bug. Since then I have owned a 1965 split window transporter, a 1988 VW Golf, a 1987 Vanagon weekender tin-top, and a 1999 Eurovan weekender.
